How about buying a 1" diameter length of...

How about buying a 1" diameter length of stainless tube, a scolloped in one end could fit over the screen rail and the other end made to fit the A frame. Would be light and wouldn't rust.

I did actually buy the Bembridge Outboards Cover....

I did actually buy the Bembridge Outboards Cover. £155 for a blue elasticated Cover that looks really good quality. Comes with it's own tie down kit too.
