As I say it does not seem to have a 2 stroke, 2 cylinder setting, only one that makes any sense is 'S1'. Idle was correct, should be set in forward gear -...

I bought one of the cheap HK ones (about £6? delivered) and before using it for the first time this weekend sealed it in a heat sealed poly bag with gaffer tape around the lead to keep all water out....

Yep, these things are never properly 'waterproof' especially getting shot at with jets of salt water. I'd seal it up in a poly bag or go round the back seam with some silicone next time.
