It's not crazy at all - vinegar being acetic acid and water. I use it quite a lot for removing deposits from chemical injectors and pumps, it being as you say, gentle on the surroundings (me). ...

Woody73 - you'll need some type of acid to combat the lime. Brick cleaner is often Hydrochloric Acid at quite high concentrations. If it is diluted to approx. 5-10% it will have quite an effect on...
