Just get it warm faster by putting a load on it. I'm not very up to date on modern marine diesels, my last diesel was a Ford built in 1972. Didn't have any provisions to make the cold start...

White smoke is typically steam or water vapor. Black or dark gray would be unburnt diesel. I don't know your particluar engine but cold with no load on it I really doubt its unburnt fuel.
