Plan B: Do what your doing now but build it...

Plan B:

Do what your doing now but build it under the console, ie the tank is still in the hull but if you need the extra capacity you can build it up a little under the console.

I think the built in tank is a great idea. Have you got a photo of where your putting it?

I know its not an answer to your question but my two 5 gallon tanks don't shift and are strapped to the deck just in front of the console.
