I don't see how you're getting 2x rpm if you've only got one plug wire wrapped unless you've got a TT226NR-4C or you're getting interference from the other HT lead. Might be worth trying foil...

parallel 2 cylinder 2 stroke is a 180 degree...

parallel 2 cylinder 2 stroke is a 180 degree crank ie fires/sparks twice every revolution. You couldn't have a wasted spark setup on a 2 stroke.
