The reason you can"t do the course at Cumbrae is they do not have a suitable power driven vessel to use for the exam .

the reason i said exam was you are going to be asked questions it"s not a "perfect attendance" course , and as much as the solent is a nice place, it"s 500 miles away !!

was interested in sitting the cruising instructor exam (power only ) however i have been told that there is NOWHERE in Scotland to sit the exam ?, has anybody had the same problem or know different ?

bit of a grey area the renewal of first aid certs(stcw 95 ) as there is no expiry on them !, mca website states also that there is no expiry ,as does fleetwood nautical college !

the reason i mentioned the seafarers act is because there is certain "operators " are expecting men to work 12 hours and then live onboard whilst the vessel works nightshift!!, received a phone call...

in this day and age a lot ofcompanies are working time for time , thus £120 a day and no leave pay equates to £60 a day,which is less than the minimum wage, if you look at earlier posts inthe forum ...

make sure your boat is ready,the examiner will want a look round if it is a boat he is unfamiliar with,know where EVERYTHING is ,he wont want to go to sea with you if you dont know where the toolkit...
