Thanks guys, I'm found short shaft 1997 OMC 30hp that I might pickup. Same weight as the 25hp so it should be fine on the 380. Listed as 115 lbs, the 15hp is about 80lbs.

I've recently moved away from the big water in Yellowknife and to the dry lands of Calgary. I just sold the Zodiac Hurricane H440 rib and today bought a nice used Bombard Aerotec 380. I'll see how it...

I have a 1974 Mk1 Zodiac that is sill in good shape. Our Coast Guard unit is using a 1996 H640 Hurricane and the tubs still hold air though they look a little rough.

Finally got around to trying the 13.5x15 prop yesterday, WOT rpm trimmed right up was 5800 rpm. Min planing speed was around 29kph, top speed was 5kph slower than with the 17 pitch.

Transom extension / pod?

I am wondering if added a transom extension/pod would be worth doing to my Hurricane 440?

I would like to:

- gain deck space
- have internal fuel storage inside the pod (again more deck...

Converting Johnson 60hp to 70hp

I've been looking at the parts books and as far as I can see the only difference between a 1996 Johnson 60hp and a 70hp is the orifices/jets in the carbs. Earlier 60's like my 1993 have different...

Due to the lay out of the boat with a jockey console and very limited floor space there is not much I can do with weight distribution though I would say it is a bit stern heavy at rest.

Reducing planing speed

I find that my H440 likes to travel at speeds of 30 kph and up to stay on plane. Displacement speed is around 10 kph and is wet in bad weather but 30 kph is too fast and rough. I've added hydrofoils...

90hp on H440?

How silly would it be to put a OMC 90hp V4 motor on a Hurricane 440? I've been offered a good used 1992 Johnson 90hp and I'm trying to say no I can't use it ;)

I'm also running a 13x17 prop. I've just looked at a 1996 parts 60hp Evinrude that I think I will pickup for spares for my 1992 60hp Johnson. I does not seem to be worth the cost of a new motor given...

OMC 60hp vs Etec
