my zodiac 550 pro open has the same set up as your med line. always has some water in the bilge after a day out especially after fishing trips,
not 100% sure where it gets in but its never...

when i questioned this point the chap simply pulls off the the small jiggle and fits to the the larger tube and proceeds to empty the can! works for me time taken to empty is not that much slower

We use Kiln dried silver sand sprinkled on wet paint for non slip steps.
sand is available from early learning centres . and have seen it in wickes.
