No I 'm not sure - is the short answer.
It definitely seems to be a fueling prob of some sort and more than likely,as you say, the carbs..

Mercury 2 stoke prob
Now after reading Hightowers thread it sounds a reasonably similar prob.
2 weeks ago the fuel tanks were stripped and cleaned, new filter, carbs stripped and "meticulously" cleaned.
