As the motor has not been used for a long time the problem could be due dirty...

If you are thinking of a Yamaha 50 h.p. - consider a Selva Dorado 50 h.p. EFI model - this is a Yamaha 50 but with a white colour hood and Selva decals ... RRP price is £6,129 - I believe...

Of the Selva 4T range the 4 h.p., one engine in the 8 and 9.9 h.p. range and all engines 15 h.p. and above are Yamaha with just a diffent colour and Selva badged hood.

What 10 h.p.

The lightest weight 10 h.p. 4T Outboard on the market is the Selva Piranha 9.9 - the weight of a standard shaft, manual start model is 30.5 kg.

Only the name is different in some Models.

Selva (not sold in U.S.A) make parts for Yamaha - 4T range, apart from the 5, 6 & 7.5 h.p. Models, are re-badged Yamaha.

British Seagull Sports - 2T models up to 35 h.p. re-badged Selva.

Here's my old selva again

No it won't be due to overheating - there is a Thermic switch which cuts out the top cylinder if motor starts to overheat.

Probably a fuel or ignition problem ... most likely a a poor earth...
