Thanks for all the input. Maybe I should look at slightly larger engines, then. I do recall, though, standing in the London Boat Show about 10 years ago, walking around carrying a 15hp was just...

Reducing prop pitch for heavier loads?

Hi all,

Have been running an air floor Zodiac Classic MkIIC with 15hp Mariner 2 stroke for a few years. It was great when the 3 kids were pretty small - all 5 of us planed comfortably. Now the...

Hi,

When I got into SIBs last year, I was looking for something I could fit 2 adults and 3 children, get on the plane, and easily inflate/deflate carry and store.

The ease of use thing means...

Repairing an aluminium prop

Having dinged the prop on my Mariner 15 2 stroke (well, having had it dinged by my 8 year old son, but he's still learning, so that's OK), I did a repair job, but not quite as successfully as hoped....

Yes it's available, although for some strange reason the Bombard people decided not to have one at the London Boat Show, so I haven't seen one. But looking at the spec I found it was much narrower...

Not my favourite insurer ...

Well, my policy was underwritten by AXA Insurance UK (TG), managed by Towergate Marine. I'm not quite sure of the relation between Towergate and AXA, but it was the claims office at Towergate who I...

Hi Richard,

I think the worst part of the whole incident was the reluctance of the insurer to pay out in any reasonable way. Took 9 months of letter writing, next one was to the Financial...

New SIB experience

So, my problems are solved, so what do I now think of my new little Zodiac Classic 3.8m Mk2C SIB with the Mariner 15HP 2 stroke? Frankly, I'm chuffed to bits. Here are a few thoughts in case it...

... and having used half a tankful at 25:1, topped up and now on 50:1, ticks over nicely, confirming previous theories. Am planning to move onto 100:1 after another half a tank.

The outcome ...

Well, since the dealer swapped the original 9" pitch prop for an 8", we had a sunny day on Saturday out at Lymington, tried the new prop, and it worked a treat, what a huge difference from the 9"...

Not tried anything quite so extreme, but yes, I did make everyone hunch up at the front. Not enough with my 9" pitch prop, though.

What prop are you using?

cheers,
Simon

I wanted to avoid an expensive guessing game, where I buy a series of replacement props, firstly 8 inch pitch, then 7 inch, and so...

Final outcome (for me)

So here's my final outcome: after listening to lots of good advice, and having another outing, I now understand what's happening. At 25:1, when running at tickover, the plugs are fouling up with...

Well, following the discussion in the other thread (https://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13156) I'm now ready to think about the prop to use with my Mariner 15hp 2 stroke and Zodiac Mk2C.

I...

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. Yes, I discovered that the tell tale is affected by the thermostat, which as it cuts in reduces the tell tale to just a dribble, ... until it cuts out again,...

Long seat

Hi Steve,

The long seat was a custom job, so you'd have to discuss it with your preferred manufacturer. We sized it (160cm) by sitting the family astride a wooden plank in the kitchen, discussed...
