Out mackerel fishing in the summer with a hand...

Out mackerel fishing in the summer with a hand line and drifted past what looked like a giant jelly fish .
Motored back to where it was and it was still there so hooked it with the boat hook....

Powerhead for Mercury 6hp 4 stroke....

As above, a powerhead for a 2006 Mercury 6hp 4 stroke single cylinder outboard ---a crankshaft only won't sort the problem as previously posted.

Drain the oily coloured liquid from the see through tube from the petrol tank to the carb --- it's old gunk from the fuel mix which is 16...

Get a length of strimmer cable and poke it up the telltale hole ---- don't use wire --- this cleared a similar problem we had on a small "get you home" Mercury.

Used the motor today --- first time for weeks.
Found a photo taken in 2011 which just happened to show the motor and zooming in showed where the choke knob was set....

If you do get sparks drop some fuel into the air...

If you do get sparks drop some fuel into the air intake/intakes of the carb/carbs and see if she will run for a few seconds then cut out.
If it does then you have a carb problem ....

2nd update ....
Studied the workshop manual today and I never knew that when you pull the choke knob out it squirts fuel into the carb as mentioned ---- I thought it just closed off the air intake....

Yes the knob is the choke and also fast/ slow idle but not a primer --- I've never used it as a primer --- just the bulb on the external fuel...
