Why is it when giving a grid position on land you go across the map before you go up the map, but on a chart, you give the latitude before longitude there for going up the chart before going across....

I'm starting mine each weekend for about 20 mins provided it's not freezing. Main reason is to use up the fuel in the tank and it gives me chance to do odd jobs on the boat!
