I have an Excel SD290 for 8 years and its perfect. Holds air for weeks and performs great in rivers and up to a mile off coast.

Think ill go 15 and be sensible. I boat on sea in Georges chanell with strong currents and find the 8 a bit wanting...

Thanks for the good advice guys. I looked at the Johnson range of props for my engine 7 to 12" and I am at the bottom 8" range , perhaps previous owner of the outboard had a different purpose to me....

Hi Guys , What are the indications of a too low pitched prop . My prop pitch is 9x11 on a 12 ft with 15hp johnson . My rib seems to take of rapid and revs out a roughly half throttle !

Why do you have to fill gearbox from bottom up ? and then need a special pump, why not from top oil hole ?? :ermm:
