Hey folks

Well I finally did it, sold the bombard and mariner 2 smoke and for the Highfield CL380 with Suzuki 20hp.

Ill keep you all posted on the progress etc with some new photos to follow when i manage to get onto the water. Hope to run the engine in this weekend coming although may be a tad cold. Have purchased one of the tach meters to watch my rpm so hoping to fit that this week sometime too.

Sweet. Nice looking rig. Should go really well with the Suzuki. Enjoy.

That's nice, I will look forward to a report as I am interested in upgrading my air floor 380 lodestar to a lightweight rib and there doesn't seem to be much information available from people with first hand experience.

Yes that was my feeling too so a first hand account will be very interesting. Particularly to me as I have the same OB and am very familiar with the Aerotec Simon will be comparing to.

Looking forward to the info.

Well the winter has been harsh up here but decided to take the Highfield out for a spin on Loch Lomond as Im still running in the new 20.

Had a complete blast, only up to 3/4 throttle for a short time, the Highfield and Suzuki 20 seem like a good pairing.

Did a few 360 turns and the boat cut through the water like a rib should do and handled a bit of chop. Ill be looking forward to some sea trips in the coming months.

Looking good. Once run in and when a few degrees warmer it should be a blast.

Sib is perfect boat for loch lomond imo.

Looks good setup.

Nice. If you’ve not already spotted it there is a small boats meet up in the Clyde in June...

Fenlander 24 June 2018 10:22

Simon any more reports on the Highfield? Been looking at some on the pontoons in Cornwall and it made me wonder how you are getting on?

Well, i have been on a few trips so far this year as the weather has been great up in Scotland. I have been through the Corryvreckan round Jura, through the Kyles of Bute and over to Portavadie and Tarbet and Aarran. Then this weekend out and about round Wee Cumbrae, Isle of Bute and Big Cumbrae with my dad and and uncle as passengers.

I have to say the boat handles so well in the chop, sure its still a small boat and you need to keep an eye on the waves, but it shifts and jumps the waves without any cause for concern.

With three up today managed to get up to 19mph and that wasn't full throttle!
