I think we may need a bit more information than that :bang:
I tend to find the ones with biggest numbers on them give the most power

new engine

I am considering a new 7.4 with wrap around console. Heavy boat. Am considering what is the biggest outboard i can get for it.

I have seen reports that Suzuki were to launch a 300 hp in the USA in May but it is not on their website.

Yamaha(preferred choice ) have a 300 HPDI about which there are mixed reports.

Mercury do the 275 Verado about which I know nothing.

Any help appreciated.

The Suzuki will prob be the one to go for - out in time for next season apparently. From what I can gather it is based on their 250hp so it will be very light for a 300hp 4stroke.

I wouldn't think about an outboard on a big lump like that. That's an inboard boat. 300hp Yanmar or Yam would be the one. Unless you are Kashoggi and can afford to pour fuel through a 300hp outboard.

300 inboard

Alice

i thought of inboard but have decided against it on basis of:
Weight
Balance
Space. Inboard does not leave much room in the boat.

Have you got room for twins on the transom?

Twin 150 optimaxes or similar could be a good choice

Yamaha will come with their new 300 4-stroke soon...

Agreed, the Yamaha rep at Ribex said that this new engine is the worst kept secret in the marine world.. He wouldn't give a date though.

If you fancy less weight hanging off the rear a new 'rude Etec 300 is nearly ready to go as well.

Cheers

Twins

NO way

Too much hassle
Power to weight ratio is poor
