Brian,

Wonder what good condition means to you.... minter at £4000 or just sound?

Have you seen the ones on Ebay?

Three very good value... one looks very smart and the other two may just need tidying... two have a 40hp but always easy to sell those to get the right outboard if the boat is otherwise good...

ZODIAC FUTURA S MK2 & MARINER 40 hp | eBay

ZODIAC FUTURA MK2C WITH 25HP YAMAHA ON HALLMARK TRAILER 12ft 6" long | eBay

ZODIAC FUTURA S MK2C with 40HP YAMAHA ENGINE with TRAILER | eBay

You probably know this but however shiny they look as many on the market are over 10yrs old glued seam failure (or potential failure) needs watching for.

portability

Holy Grail Tohatsu 9.8hp 2-stroke, its for my 15 year old son and it absolutely flies with him on board, it came with a lovely 10hp Suzuki four stroke but at 41kgs it was just too much to move around.

Without doubt its the best inflatable you can buy, I have 3 friends who own them, 20hp mariner, 25hp mariner and a 25hp yamaha. Absolute flying machines.

We've been hearing this a lot recently but I'm not aware of many cases where this has happened and I know there are plenty of older boats still going strong. Is it really a major issue or is it becoming a bit of a RIBnet urban myth?

Well facts known to me are two Zodiac 340 air floor models around 2000-2002 on Ebay this year... one with transom detaching and another with a ghastly DIY repair for same issue.

In the past too a Futura owner has discussed his failing seams on here with me.

But the actual example closest to me is my own 1998 Aerotec which has both been patched and seam repaired in the past and I've recently run a thread showing some of the repairs I had to make to get it sound for our Scottish holiday...

http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/aerotec...ice-68545.html

At a quick glance the initial repairs in that thread are all patch and not seam related but posts 31,31,34,36 & 38 relate to failed glue.

The tubes themselves of course are all welded so they will last a "lifetime".

I've actually enjoyed using this boat to prove strong repairs can be made with (meticulous) DIY methods... I'd expect the repairs I've made will have a 10yr+ life. If an owner didn't feel able to do this work though the cost at a RIB/SIB place would be prohibitive I'd guess.

Office888 helpfully explained which bits of various Zodiacs were glued in posts 11, 15 & 18 on this thread...
