Wanted 5.5m - 6m 'offshore' RIB

I have a 4.9m Zodiac Yachtline - great boat for coastal work, but I want to go further.

Based on the IoM, it's about 25nm to get anywhere, and as the Irish Sea is shallow, a steep chop builds very quickly.

I think I need a Humber Destroyer or Ribcraft 5.45. Is there anyone out there with such a boat - engine is less important, as I have a 70hp 2 stroke that goes for ever.

I would need 4/5 jockey seats, console, longer range tank (preferably under floor), A frame.

Anyone got one for a reasonable price?

I am trying to sell my Ribeye 5.8m. It was built early 2002. Yamaha 100hp 4 stroke. 20gall s/s underdeck tank, A frame, anchor locker, manual and elec bilge pumps, vhf, gps, f/finder. Was coded to mca cat 3. 2 *2 person jockey seats. complete with roller trailer. It is on the boats for sale section.

hope it may be of interest.

David

Sorry for delay in getting back.

I don't have the budget for your obviously 'nearly new' boat.

Sorry

Beware the Ribtec 5.45. I looked at one at SIBS with a very similar requirement to your own, and Ribcraft sales team very quickly discouraged me. I may be completely wrong, but I am not sure that the 5.45 m hull has the same deep v, sea-kindly hull as the 5,85 and the 4.8 - you should definitely get one on the water and get a feel for performance in a chop.
Has anyone on the forum got a R/C 5.45 and able to tell me I'm writing absolute rubbish?

Did you mean Ribtec? Or Ribcraft?

Benjamin, if you ask Ribcraft what they think of Ribtec then what do you think they will say ? so please be careful what you say about a boat especially if you don't have any experience of it. People do read these posts with a view to buying a rib which for anyone is major purchase. they need good sound advice from people who have used the boats, engines or equipment.

Actually Ribtec don't make a 5.45m rib.

Mine is 6.45m! (LOA 6.7m) and a deep v hull with constant deadrise which makes the hull very sea worthy, believe me! this is my second Ribtec.

If as JK says you meant Ribcraft then please amend your post.

Steady chaps........

I have actually seen a Ribcraft 5.45 - bright yellow, for sale in Nayland Marina last summer.

The Ribtec sounds a big boat, Pete.

How heavy, what kind of trailer etc.

I have a Honda CRV for towing - good for up to 1.5 tonnes I believe.

My e mail is whitingiom@yahoo.co.uk if you would like to send me details

Cheers

Benjamin.

Both the Ribtec and the Ribcraft make an excellent range of boats,
and I'd be happy to go to sea in either.

I have seen Pete7's boat and it really is in excellent condition and a very well laid out boat .

Regards
Stuart

Pete,

What price is your boat - PM me if you like. I assume it has the 150 mariner you refer to - what year is this also?

Thanks

Dan

I have a delta 5.5m RIB with a recent Mercury 4 Stroke on the back, only 130 hours since 2000.
Not a pretty boat but will handle anything thrown at it.
I am a broker on the south coast, give me a call on 07971 792345 if this is of any interest to you and I'll forward the full specs and some pictures.
Regards,
Mike Evans.

Mike

I bought an Osprey 5.2m

Again not a pretty boat, but it does the job.

Thanks for offering your boat, it certainly looks the sort of thing that would do well up here!
