You'll struggle for that price, you might get something completely fecked or very small...

Yep.

Might be worth looking for a decent sib instead.

You may get an old S3.40 Avon SIB for £500, but a half decent RIB will be £1000+

Not many small RIBs are rated to 25hp - you'd be looking at 3.40m/11' min.

What do you mean 'left' on the beach? Unattended??

where i live all the boats are left on the beach, with licences. and a sib would not cope with going up and down the beach. im after one with a solid fibreglass hull. All the boats are unattended. However i work about 20 meters away from where it would be put.
And im sure if someone was out to go steal a boat/outboard they would aim for a more expensive boat and not be aiming for a 1987 Yamaha enduro outboard or an old avon rib!

Isn't your Yam 25 longshaft? If so, most SIBs wouldn't be suitable in any case. Nor, for that matter would an Avon S3.40 (RIB or SIB), as these take std shaft (15" mid) outboards.

i have all the parts needed to convert it to a short shaft, and avon S3.45 does use a longshaft, checked it on their website.

The S3.40 and S3.45 are entirely different boats.
