It was Stu's "Wake up Call" that got me looking for one ten years ago.

I believe that something like 12-16 boats were built.

Mine originally had a 90hp Merc on it.
As did the one that ribit has: Rib charter and RYA powerboat training for the south coast
As has one that lives at Universal Marina on the Hamble.

I'd be interested to see how they go with a lightweight 90hp.

Seems to skip along quite nicely with the 150hp Opti - Now with about 800hrs and going strong.

Fantastic upwind - really likes to be doing 30 knots.
Just need to be aware when coming downwind that the very fine bow can tend to induce bow steer.

I've always managed to stay in mine.

Maybe its Stu - I'm sure I saw him fall out of a 5.5m Gemini too!

Correct - I had a browse round the factory earlier this year. IIRC all boats up to 9m ish came out of the same mould with the transom plant placed to give the length you want.

Unfortunately for us "normal" people the profitable part of the market at the moment is in the larger boats. I don't think we'll see a new Scorpion for the cost of a Mondeo again.

I think that this is probably why there weren't many of the original 6.5m built.
I imagine that the build cost was almost the same as a 7.5m - but you can charge much more for a 7.5m boat.
