family rib wanted 6 -7M (will consider 5m+)

I'm looking for a decent family rib with a wide beam and plenty of deck space/or seating, preferably 6- 7 meters with a 4 stroke on (preferably yam) will consider a newish 2 stroke like the evinrude etecs. I will also consider a 5m+ with the right layout like the bombard explorer.

Also I really need it delivered or for it to be in pembrokeshire, a couple of sellers have already offered to deliver with a sea trial as long as i cover costs, but the boats i''ve seen so far just don't tick all the boxes.

Budget is £7K but will stretch to £10K for a really good one

Andy

Mine's a really good one but you'll have to stretch to £20K if you want to buy it. And you'll have to come and collect it.

You should avail of one of those crappy loans you're advertising and buy wozhisname's RIB. It's a good'un and hardly bent at all...

Agreed, unfortunately budget is quite far away from your desires. It would be v tired and old and most likely be a unreliable at that 7-10k money.

An engine (100 hp plus) for a 6-7m boat is a good 10k minimum new to start with. A boat then roughly 20-40.

They halve in value at the most every 4 years if being used a bit, so by the time a 40k boat gets to 7 grand it's a) v old, perhaps 10yrs and b) pretty knackered. If its mint, it'll hold it's value.

If you look sub 6m, you may find something like a nice 5.4 searider or ribcraft 585 with a 75-90 modern 2stroke on.

6-7m will need more ££££

Agreed.

surfer4life - take a look at what's on the market just now. Most traders or even private won't deliver, unless of course you pay top-dollar, and that includes fuel there and back + time. There are third-party companies that specialise in boat transport - so you will need to factor into the cost.

Zodiac 650 Open Pro and Honda BF130
Second hand Zodiac boats - Western Marine

Redbay Stormforce 6.5m and Suzuki 140DF
Pre-owned Boats - Redbay Boats

Humber Prodive 6.3m and Yammie 130hp (2-stroke)
Humber Prodive Rib 6.3Mtrs Priced at £12,500-00 GBP

thanks for the replies guys.

There are plenty on the market around 2002 ish for under 10K

this one

this one (might deal for for £9500 - £10,000)

this one

this one

this one (im really interested in this one, but never heard of babu ribs!)

this one (just ended wanted £8K)

These are the sorts of boats age wise i'm looking at, most of the sellers i've spoken to have engines with less than 250 hours on, and quite a few have offered to deliver. I'd hardly say that these are tired examples, for what i want it for they will do the job just fine.

The reason i posted on these forums is i was recomended to do so by a friend who has just bought a rib and got some advice on here, i was hoping a member might be selling a similar boat to the above.

Why not buy one of the ribs from your selection then?
You will need to get it cheap especially if you have a 10k max budget because most of these will cost a fortune to run with fuel and repairs and by far outweigh the benefit of buying a more modern boat and engine. I can't see a private vendor willing to take a boat to you in the hope that you will buy it unless its a dealer and even they will want a pretty penny to deliver it. It's not likely you will find a decent reputable rib for around 7k from a dealer that fits your criteria.

Revenger is nice, but wont sell for less than 10 I doubt.

Others I wouldn't buy personally. But horses for courses and all that.

Nearly all you'll be v lucky to get delivered, cleaned up and serviced for under £10k.

Good luck though.!

Like Animal said, if they are what you want, why not buy one? FWIW, I think the boats in that selection are cheap for a reason and are not regarded as rough water kit. The Ali rib looks awful and Babu? I've never heard of them! It looks fairly grim though.

animal, with regards to it costing me a fortune in fuel, can you tell me what the difference in economy will be from a 2003 115HP 4 stroke yamaha (like on the babu rib i linked to) and say a 2008/2009 115HP yamaha?

and i do intend to buy one from the selection, i was just keeping my options open and thought a member might have one for sale, of which i have already been offered two ribs from members, so the process has been worthwhile.

thanks nick, thats the sort of thing i'm looking for, im up barmouth next week aswell!

i've having trouble pricing these ribs though, can you tell me why the boat you linked to can ask £3K more than this that ended on ebay last week, is it the engine? how much should i factor in for say a yamaha 115 4 stroke Vs a similar HP mariner optimax?

Bloody hell, those look really good value. I'd forget buying mine and buy one of those instead. That Revenger is especially clean and cheap. Well found!

why dont people tell you how old the engine is (only 2 do and one of those was a 1998 2 stoke mariner i.e. not worth a lot) as this has a huge bearing on price?

good luck

Well you can ask what you like but it dose not meen it will sell for what you are asking, I would prefer the lay out of the one I linked to & would prefer the later 4st over a old opti!
I looked a a 10 year old Avon 6.2 last year with bench seat at back twin jockey seats & the large screen console with a afram you could ski of & a yam 4st 115hp it was up with a yeoward in salcombe for £12k it was mint condition on good trailer made a cheeky offer of 10k but they soon sold it for asking price, but you can get a lot of rib for your money

thanks nick, if that 6.2 avon had a 115 yam on i'd be all over it, not saying theres anything wrong with the mariner but i'll be using it pretty much every day in the summer so fuel economy does play a big part in the decision.

An 4stroke will use about 90% that of a modern two stroke like an opti. The saving isn't great. I wouldn't let the engine choose a boat on that basis. Especially as a 4stroke is heavier and slower per hp.
