Don't know anything about, other than seller's feedback is good. That said normally checks and balances apply!

Looks exactly the same on B&O (near Teignmouth) for £12,950. Probably has reserve on it on EBay.

I’ve seen it or one very similar on B&O as well, nice looking outfit but I’m not overly keen on the bench seating as it seems to take up a lot of spare.

Any thoughts on this ?

If that ribcraft is the real deal then it’s exceptionally cheap. Only 1 bid and at 4K.

Not sure. It's on Ebay with location as Aberdeen being sold by someone that's been trading since 2005, but also on Boats & Outboards (Teignmouth). Boat is called Sunny Too.

Something doesn't add up if you ask me.

I want to upgrade, so will be selling mine after half term. It's a Bombard DB600 with 90 4-stroke Mariner, Garmin GPS, depth sounder, ICOM DSC VHF, 86L console tank, spare 30L tank and bits and bobs. Price is £9500. Let me know if you're interested.
Oh, full heavy-duty cover and a light console cover included, sits on a braked trailer.

I am thinking of upgrading to a 6.3 or 6.5 but! I have not seen anything that meets the spec I am looking for. I have a 2011 5.8 ribquest with a 115 yam a 120litre under deck fuel tank 2 wing back jockey seats 2 etc jockey seat with a console seat and a bow cushion. Single A frame and with nav lights, vhf radio, depth gauge and Garmin echo map 55 with GPS and fish finder ,depth gauge on a 2015 indespesion braked trailer it has a fully trailered boat cover. If you are interested drop me a message and I can email some photos. Nigel. 07702176477

Evasive or just not the world’s best advertising copywriter? Or perhaps he is uncertain and would rather not mislead the buyer?

It actually might be quite a good way of screening tyre kickers too - real buyers will ask for the details but scammers “want” it no matter what.

That isn't so easy on an XR series rib.

They first appeared at the Scottish Glasgow Boatshow in Feb 1992 I think. The moulds for the XR18 and 24 were sold off in 1998, but the XR20 were not included and I never did find out were they went. Reiver Boats in Stanley have the XR24 hull moulds.

The hull is one moulding and then the deck, transom, nose cone and seat base are another moulding, like a yacht with a hull and deck mouldings. So you need to lay up the hull and deck very accurately so the two moulds join together without a gap in the transom or were the hull deck join is on the tube flange. Early hulls were hand laid GRP but they then bought in a chopper gun to speed up production.

The early hulls were a complete Delta Conic Shape which was okay on the 24ft XR but dreadful on the 18 and 20 so these hulls had a big planning wedge added to try and make them handle properly. They also tried a flooding hull like Avon on the early hulls and that didn't work either.

They were ahead of there time so wasn't the sports boat market for ribs that followed in the 2000s. In the 1990s it was divers and orange ribs that drove demand. Shame with a bit more development like the larger XR26 lynx range they could have come good.

Would I buy this one? not a cat in hells chance, especially with that ridiculously large engine on it . A light weight 100 - 115 engine would give a much nice handling boat.

Pete

The reason for my post was someone suggesting a seacast repair was the "easy" repair which in my opinion there isn't an easy repair. Cutting out whatever is necessary and reglassing is the only way to be 100% confident you have done a proper structurally sound repair.
Not easy but no point in the op investing good money in a boat thinking a couple of hundred quids worth of wonder liquid is an easy fix.

Regarding Reiver boats, I was good pals with Alan the owner when he bought all those moulds back in 98 but he never did much with them. I think he only built one 24 but didn't use the deck mould nor the hard nose preferring to use a timber deck and soft bow I remember testing the boat for the CE approval. Not seen him for several years but I believe the moulds are still lying gathering dust in Stanley.
