Zodiac Yachtline 480 - owners reports needed

I'm interested in one of these and would like to know of owners' experiences of them.
I'd be interested to hear views. My other consideration is for a Ribcraft 5.3.
I dont want the high speed thrills that many seem to want with ribs on this forum, I just want the ability to travel to Solent ports and other places like Poole and Chichester Harbour, for pleasure.

I'm your man....

.....Dom. I've owned a Yachtline 420 with a Suzi 40 on the tail, Yachtline 480 (75 Mercury), Medline I 480 (70 Yam) and now a Medlie II 6.00 (140 Suzi). What can I tell you ? In brief, you have no worries they are very capable boats which are comfortable, well spec'ed and very well engineered. You just need to make sure the one you're looking at has the right equipment which may or may not be of interest to you but is it's absent will cause you grief at resale.

Are you looking at one on boatsandoutboards ? Let me know what age it is and what's on the tail. Perhaps we'd be better of chatting therefore, PM me with you number and I'll give you a call.

Graeme

Hi Dom

Just taken delivery of mine with a 60 Mariner 4stroke. Got caught in the squall mid solent on Sunday although a smidge nerve racking she got thru it with flying colours...more than can be said for the 50ft yacht with broken mast in the mouth of the Hamble!

According to the GPS I can get 30 kts flat out and shes very comfortable.

Zodiac

I managed to get my mits on a 1 1/2 year old Yachtline 480 at a "reasonable" price. So far really pleased with it. She came with a 2003 model Mariner 60 EFI. Only issue I would like to sort is that the motor hits and goes thru max RPM (6000) very easily and cavitates on tight turns. I would like to change the prop, which I think is standard to get a better top end (currently 30kts GPS) any ideas what size/pitch?

I will post this in another area see if I can get any good ideas.

Its going to be a good one this weekend!

The RIBCRAFT 5.3 is a far more superior boat to the YachtLine models. Probably a bit more expensive, but worth every penny. The yachtline design is not as seaworthy and the tubes are made of pvc, which will not last very long.
