Yes point taken Nasher, I'm even in a couple of shots. But these are people that we know and would take care during rafting. There are a number of occasions when it's clear that other people don't care about other boats as much. Nos was upset by someone tieing off to a grab handle that was being ripped from the tube in one such incident.
The other point I'm trying to make is, unless you have a big enough boat that can straddle the piles, you can't sit up paralell to the sea wall because of these piles. On anything less that high tide there are lots of nasty snaggy stuff and barnicals. These ruin rubbing strakes etc should the fenders work themselfs out of position. Add to the mix 6 incorrectly rafted RIBs and this ....Well doesn't bear thinking about.
For an extra pound I can tie up to a pontoon, not have to worry about checking the RIB and adjusting the ropework at various states of tide and walk ashore knowing the kids won't fall or slip from the ladder.
