We have a slightly newer one on a 585 used for training and we have done 200hrs plus in 9 months with learners and still a great bit of kit. Very reliable, I did add hydraulic steering as opposed to cable. Also fuel economy is good.

A friend of mine has the same set-up, similar age too. It's very frugal and tops out at 38 knots. Not bad!

I have one. A little newer at 2002. Fantastic engine incredibly reliable. Highly recommended.

We get a max of approx 34 kts on a 5.85 Ribcraft , which is normally quite heavily laden. Averages 1 litre per nautical mile across good and bad conditions . If this unit has a weak spot at all , it's the tilt and trim unit which has let us down twice in about eight years !Never had any other issues with it !

I had the same set up for 4 years. 5.6 metre Avon Adventure with 100hp Yamaha 4 stroke. Very reliable, quick enough and economical. Safe as well, my sons used it most of the time and loved it. The only problems I had was a sticky throttle valve, which was easily fixed.

Very nice rig.

I run a 1999 80hp which is from the same stable, on a 5.4m Searider. Pulls 35kn with a 21" prop. Very reliable, good economy but its no lightweight. PTT motor cases tend to rust but its only surface rust - or so I am told.
