Thanks for all your support in this matter but as it turned out we had as much chance of getting a nomination as flying to the moon.

Ellen Mcarther For the Route de Rhum

Peter Harisson for spending £22m on trying to win the Americas Cup.

Some Dinghy sailor who I am sure is very good

And Steve Curtis for winning the World Championship powere boat series for the fourth time. I voted for Steve as I thought it was about time he was reconised for his achivements, but I am dissapointed that we did not even get a mention. Alan P

As you may know the Yamaha motorcycle owners magazine is called 'Spirit' It is an A5 size glossy mag with high production values and runs to 100 pages.

Bill (TLS) and I picked up a copy at the NEC last month (International Motorcycle Show). There is a 5 page article with photographs about 'The Spirit of Cardiff' and of course your good self and the crew. Very positive etc.

I cant believe you did'nt even get nominated. I bet its all down to advertising etc. Ellen and Steve curtis get loads any way and the other guy spending 22million obviously helped him.

Never mind Alan, still think you guys should have won that. But at least those people who know how much of a challenge it was for you know about what you did, and I'm sure the majority of the regulars here feel that you are the real Yachtsmen of the year, I know I do.

Its how you feel that counts and what you now to be true,you will not be the first not to get what is the true recognition for his achievements

There is nobody who has done more for establishing ribs as the great sea boats they are,and also went where others feared to tread.

Its easy following in other peoples footsteps, but it isnt going out there into the bleak, where there are no guarantees, and at a time when things were not really established or proven.

How about nominating Steve Curtis, 4 times world offshore class 1 powerboat champion. Allright, I know he didn't use a rib, but what a great ambassador for the sport of Powerboating.

And he does manufacture Ribs!

Steve has already recieved a nomination for Yachtsman of the Year But hell will freeze over before he wins. The "establishment" are unlikly to allow a powerboater to walk away with the award. Steves involvment over many years has not been reconised as with many other powerboating achivements. I did not know that Steve Built RIB's apart from the Pringle Round Britain which wasnt particularly succesfull. Alan P

Alan this guy may be new to ribs?,maybe but in my opinion there is more to this than meets the eye.

Let him run and let us see what he realy wants to tell us all and see whether he wants to help others or just knock Da product!.

There is nothing wrong in voicing your opinion but I am a bit supprised at what he thinks is correct at a time when he has just bought a real rib, I am not sure where he is going and I wish him no harm,but he must respect our opinions as well or go forward and multiply.
