On removal of the front seat that was bolted down, I discovered the ply base was absolutely  rotten! The perils of it being bolted down is it is never allowed to dry I suppose?

remove staples and remove the old cover (keep this as a template), gently prise the rotten ply from the foam and leave it to dry( keep the rotten ply as a template).
Where do I get marine ply from?

I'm very small fry to them, buying only a few sheets of oak-faced marine ply or some other specialist timber in small quantities and I pay a freight-inclusive price.
To be fair, I give them plenty of flexibility so they can arrange my drop when they're scheduling other deliveries in the area but I've always found them very accommodating and the materials have always been delivered in first-class condition.

You nearly had a screen in the post today, paterned it cleaned edges unwrapped covering , bloody frosted clear,,, last time I make that mistake,,,
This s how it will look. Be after xmas now tho,, apologies got no clear in stock,, cleaned up for xmas shut down

Do you think she will make me some? I have done the same as yourself - removed all the old cracked and ripped seat covers and now need to try and get some more made - but I don't know anyone with a heavy duty machine

I had a used 3m headlight restoring kit (7.5mm drill disc, Velcro 500,800,1000 wet and dry disc, and buffer.
took me about 1.5 hours starting with the 500 grit working up to the buffer.
