Take a chill pill.

We're often just as good at skippering (and co-owners to boot ).

Stu, your first mistake was telling her that it was a boat.

Should have told her it was a fancy portable inflatable swimming pool with a built in washing machine .

Wondered why I had designer rips in my clothers after telling her indoors the latter.

All in all I am probably with Stu on this one. Although I think mine should stay in the padded room!

I understand, last year I took my wife to the South Of France and guess what, she said the water was still too cold, the waves too big and I went too fast. What will it take for a perfect days boating with her, should I send her overboard????

i was on my moms drive the other week with the boat doing some odd jobs.
i sorted my trumpets out clamped them on the engine then just as i was going to start her up my mom come out being nosy

i started her up but mom was at the back of the boat so i told her to stand back as was going to put her in gear

just as said this she started swearing and shouting i could'nt hear her properly so i stopped the engine to see wat the problem was

and then she says dont be so stupid putting that thing in gear it will take off
i mean why dont they just go away and play with there make up and s***

Well I just have to be on the Sea .
Sea kayaking was my thing in a big way , so I got one for the missus nd she shat herself and said never again .

So I got nice little 20 foot yatch . Not very interested there iether , not even when It came to the kitchen fittings or should I say galley . So that got sold .

Last year I got a big Canadian canoe which was acepted by her especially when i fitted a Honda 2.2 to it , but its not even slightly seaworthy and the river estuary is too tidal muddy and boring .

Then I got my little Honda and she loves it , whooped a hollered like she was a kid at the fair and didn't complain when I played in the rough stuff iether . And that was in the cold this weekend . Driving it scares her , but she can handle it long enough for me to roll a fag so ribs or sibs are the boats for women and family fun me thinks .

hmmm........well nearly all mechanical hobby sites are dominated by men as far as I can see, and as this is true in virtually all cultural settings I suspect it's roots are in anthropology. Division of labour on a sexual basis would appear to be a characteristic of surviving human groups. I observe that most women are more interested in ribbing or whatever when there is a chance to meet friends or new people and interact socially. Social anthropologists say there are sound survival reasons for women to do this; as there are for men to compete for status, and technological advantage.
That said, in a civil and free society, it is unfair to assume a man or woman will act as the majority do, and deny them their chance to express themselves and fulfil their potential; for instance ellen macarthur. I suspect if you offer a safe, clean, social fun experience, women will be more likely to take part, MOST women. My wife won't go near the rib!

Y'know, sometimes I realise just how lucky I am... The mrs hated my old hardboat and was well up for it when we got the SR4. She loves it.
