i had a great idea before wilst fixing my bike, why not use a inner tube from my sisters old bike and use it to create the tubes?

This has got me thinking now. I've got an old watercooled Enya 29 complete with flywheel sat on a shelf here...

its looking great ,i did have plans on making the atlantic 75 from 6inch pvc drain pipe for static display but when i started measuring things out it would have been nearley the same size as a small proper rib ,and i dont think that the angles on the bow would have gone as good as they do with the foam pipe lagging,all the fittings on my boat were what i could find around the home except for the danforth anchor and chain ,the nav lights are old xmas tree bulbs cut down to size ,

pity that they dont make watercooled strimmer engines i have heard a lot of model aircraft and model helicopters use them ,they work out cheaper even if you buy the strimmer and just use the engine and they come with tank and pull start ,and much cheaper than some of the proper model engines ,though you could always wrap the cooling fins with copper tubing and run water through ,

Air cooled strimmer engines work well, just make sure the carb is protected from in comming water, and you have bouyancy and put drains in the transom to let the water that will get in through the air vents out.

I had to use TFR to clean mine its been lying around for so long, but they do shift from memory

I do a lot of sailing in the British Virgin Islands and just ginned this up.

Always wanted to get some cool video from the water on a RC boat, wanted one small enough to fit in a backpack, well I picked one up with damaged box at half price.

It looked like THIS outa the box:

Original plan was to mount the camera inside or on top of the canopy....initial testing proved that to be a bad idea, the wieght of the video camera made it very tippy.
Loose the canopy, turn it into a RIB using polyethelene pipe insulator foam!!
Initial shot, not totally done, have to silicone the motor water cooling tube and trim it:

Next step is to make the glassed foam "keel" that will suspend the camera under the RIB for underwater video!

Check the anchor set, no problem, just send the Stealth Video Rib out!!!

The camera mount is complete, adjustable for tilt and pan manually.

Just ran the sea trial in the big Olympic size pool, handles beautifully and can go pretty quick!!
The RIB appears to be very stable and balances perfectly with the video camera aboard.

I have bailed on mounting the camera on the bottom of RIB and am starting on a towable sled rig for the camera with dive planes that will take it down as the RIB is moving forward, the depth can be adjusted by length of the tow line as well as speed of the RIB as I will make the the sled have slight positive bouancy until towed.

Amazing what a Sunday afternoon of a few beers makes one dream up!!

Good find. Interesting that they seem to have done a model of the RNLI's Experimental FCB2 (JET DRIVE RESCUE BOAT 16th scale), although it could just be a similar looking commercial boat. If it is FCB2, they must be well gutted that the production boat is going to look quite different.
