Winter Mould...

Hello,

Being winter down here in the Southern Hemisphere, I've just gone and checked on my sleeping RIB, and there is some tasty mould/mildew type patches all over the tubes (mainly on the 'interior' side).

I keep it outside, with a cover over the top.

Other than "use it more often" and "clean it better", is there anything I can do to prevent mould/mildew buildup over the winter months?

Or is it as simple as use some Bathroom Mr Muscle Mould Killer on it every once in a while?

It's PVC by the way.

Cheers!
Rob

I get issues with damp in my consoles and have a fair bit of mildew type black stuff in them now. I think I'm going to have a propper clean up and give something like this a try.....

Star brite No Damp Dehumidifier & Crystals - Sheridan Marine

I think you can also get crystals that absorb dampness that can be dried and reused by heating in the oven.

Someone on here suggested a few strategically place disposable nappies do a good job of absorbing the moisture.

Cant say I've tried it though

Hey,

Cheers for the replies...

I thought about the Damp Rid stuff, but the boat is still outside, just with a fabric cover, so I fear one of those Damp Rid thingies will be fighting a loosing battle? But I guess (other than a nappy!!!) there isn't really much else...

Maybe just scrub off with Exit Mould every now and then is the way forward. Damn elbow grease...!

Cheers
