So who and why winter jobs are people on with ?

With a very last minute house move I have yet to still winterise my "vessels" never mind additional and repairs.

New AIS for me plus other bits & bobs get the trailer lights finished. Finish the strengthening the spare wheel brackets.

Already done for me ... New Ariel,new radio, engine trailer service, new LED trailer lights, power steering leak sorted, new navigation light,.. Can now get on with my Xmas shopping

Rip in to, reglue baffles... Cut new neoprene ones if they're one of the crappy PVC baffle years
Plug outboard holes
Reglue some of the d-rings
Reglue thrust board edges

Remove and scrap Merc 100hp
Derig, remove console
Putty up the 4000 screw holes
Hog out the transom and fill with Seacast (recycled fiberglass + resin)
Replace console with a more modern style
Install double a-frame with platform and dive ladder
Repower with Yamaha 115hp 4st
Respray whole boat with fresh orange gel coat.
Reglue some of the bits and pieces

Measure up for new cover, built some where ashore to keep her, cut into that brand new consul for VHF and work out routing for aerial.

Do something with the anchor locker - it's huge, back under front quarter of deck, so anchor and chain has far too much room. Annoying really as it's only a small hatch at the front of the locker. Thinking of cow mat and neoprene for protection then glueing in a gas tube to slide it in and bungy across the front to keep in place.

Change bearings on trailer

3) Have local dealer repair damaged skeg ( see 1 )

Fit electric winch to trailer & scheme up a waterproof battery box for same.
Move spare wheel to make room for said batt box.
Do PB2 course😳

Are you making it so you can charge said battery from the car as well via the 13 pin socket

i'm interested in the leccy winch setup too.

i have avoided buying one for now but i can see it in the future, especially if the new upgraded winch i bought today doesn't work!

besides the 400 quid for the winch, the battery idea and charging it i wasn't sure of. my car doesn't have 14 pin on it as i don't have a caravan. i was toying with adding that so i could charge the battery under way and have the battery on the trailer in some sort of box. however, i was concerned about the total come and steal me look about a combo like that when the trailer is sitting at some slipways.

Watching the bloody forecast and praying for some periods of settled weather to catch up with Novembers delayed surveys ..... 3 in delay, and now bumping into December!! Windy summer, lulled into false sense of security in October.... Pass the whisky (oh and keep me away from Ebay) :shakes head:

Many moons ago, in a time that many on here never knew, I was sent to survey biology on a foreshore in west Clare. Back in those days, GPS was a thing known only to the US armed forces. We used rocks the size of caravans to mark our survey locations. I went back in January and they were gone....

it's my own fault.... I gave a presentation to a local business club recently. When asked if our work was seasonal I proudly boasted that due to the nature of work we do we have work year round..... If only I could get the bloody boats afloat to deliver it!! On the plus side I've just bought a lovely set of seat covers for my new Jeep

Change out reed valves for new fibre ones (ex Chris Carson USA) on Opti. Source and fit aux outboard. Get out in January as it seems like the rest of this year is blown out !

Have a couple of sets of these from CC to swap into the Optis on the Arctic over the winter too... What thread lock will you be using on the screws out of interest? Read reports of factory stuff failing and pulling screws through

Getting a new cover made by Custom Covers in Falkirk.....they've guestimated £250 !
Like......we know that ain't going to happen.....not at that price.
(I'm thinking more like £400)
