Windscreens for Jockey console?

Anyone know where you can buy windscreens for Jockey style console? Top of my console's about 35cms wide so that would be maximum width of screen I can accomodate. Spent a few hours on Google but nothing helpfull so far

Not sure if this'll work but wanted to do something similar myself and thought about a motorbike screen, this pic is literally the first one I came to and although not ideal is not too far off the mark?

You'd be better off buying some perspex from a local plasics stockists and bending and profiling it yourself like I did. At least you get exactly what you want this way.

Yes I have Neil:

It shows the removable sled that contains the VHF,Plotter and Depthsounder.

and the rear of the perspex "windscreen" that is painted blue on the bottom and left clear around the top.

Last Picture Neil is of my new purchase soon to make its appearance at the 12th March Solent cruise.

Wow that's a bit of craftsmanship Andy, are you taking orders for the sled?

I want some!

re the different type of screens , there was a bad accident in the Solent recently and a lot of people got messed up on perspex screens and chrome tubing but mostly the screens. the type without the chrome tubing around would badly damage somebody in the case of high speed impact. The Chrome tubing at least provides some resistance to the cleaving effect of the edge of the perspex

Perspex Screen Injuries

The effect of using your face as a brake to stop on the edge of a perspex windscreen can't be stressed enough. It is on my list of improvements to put a length of clear platic hose around the edge of the screen.

By splitting the hose and running it around the edge it will protect fleshy bits from being split on impact and protect the screen from thumps and bangs.

We've got a windscreen with a stainless tube edge on it - and I managed to bang my forehead on it twice in quick succession (within 5 minutes). Now, if we are out in those conditions (too bumpy to sit down so standing up and helming - i.e. much more likely to headbut the console/screen) we wear Geckos.

Console shot

Just dug this out as an example of a sharp screen. This was made from a sheet of lexan and was gently heated to get the shape.

Yes I've bumped my head, but not on the windscreen but on the steering wheel!! The Key fell out the ingnition and I bent over to pick it up when I smashed a wave.....Way to go....Gekko. I don't think that I'd hurt myself on my windscreen as I'd hit the console and wheel first, the SS grab rail is handy to grab hold of when punching the waves and in calm seas I can lean againt it and feel like old Kate Winslet at the bows of Titanic.

Thanks Neil, see you next week?

Stu I heard about that when it happened at Cowes week and we talked about it a month or so later....Nasty.
