willk's Law #2

The fuel tank volume on a rib will approximately equal the recommended petrol engine power, litres v HP.

Your thoughts pls?

Our internals are 140L and we have a 175hp, max 200hp. The Humber 6.3s are often seen with a 150 though so...

225 and 225 here, though the boats are often seen now with 250.

I'd noticed it too.

50L & 150Hp, but I like it hard & fast!

Time to introduce another law very pertinent to boat mending:

Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.

I think as Rules of Thumb go you are not far off (crudely at WOT it will give you over 2.5 hrs and likely >4hrs cruising without refuelling)

What was Law#1 though?

I wondered about us sibbers... but yep the rule broadly follows. Happy with 12l tank for 10hp and always used 25l for 20hp.

I've never emptied it completely to test the exact volume!
