My Tornado 5mtr will plane with 4 divers and is powered by an old smokey 60 merc. The prop pitch is a 13inch.

My SR4.7 with DT65 suzuki would plane with 4 divers (max75kg) + 4xtwin tanks+ 45 liters of fuel. You would have to pack it right and place people quite much forward, and struggle a bit downwind.... but it worked.

it depends on the hull shape, and the size of your divers... i guess it becomes very sensitive to the weight and especially the distribution of this when you are a bit underpowered.

Mine had a 17" pitch prop all the time, empty or full of kit and worked fine. Never had any problem getting on the plane ever. Unless you could the time I stuffed it off Cape Wrath into a big wave when it was full of divers and filled it up to the top of the tubes with water? It did struggle a bit then

I tested this out over the weekend. The rib will plain with the equivent of 5 divers on board (assuming all in weight of the divers at 115 kg each) 50 lt of fuel, 10 lt of water and a 10 kg shot line. The rib feels very wallowy at this weight and ran much nicer wwhen the weight was reduced by 100 kgs. The prop was a 13 dia by 17 pitch. the WOT achived was 600 rpm (max for ETEC)

So my question has been answered

Hi TSM,

Do you know many divers? My experience of them is that they're quite a bit lardier than 115kg (incl kit)

My estimate:

Average (lol, no, SMALL) diver 80kg
Suit and small gear 10-15kg
Cylinder and Reg 19kg
Weight belt 13kg
Stab Jacket 5kg

(over 130kg)

It should be ok.
My old diving club had a 5.2 osprey with a 60 merc and it moved with 6 divers and 2 crew and yes it was a bit of a tight fit .
