will i hear a stereo on a rib

i am thinking of getting a stereo for the rib, it will have an opti 200, will i be able to hear the stereo on the cruise at speed? thanks to Blue Ice for inspiring me with their great vids. how many watts of power will i need for it to be reasonable, any feedback or views would be good....

Bloody Loud! It's not the noise of the Opti, as most of that gets left behind ,but the music will aswell. Nice when tied up though. Can't beat a nice chilled glass of cider and the mellow sounds of Adge Cutler and the Boys.

oh yes i realised that but was thinking it would be nice to have a bit of good music pumping out if i can hear it, probably not good for the sailing chaps but useful for fishinging and general wellbeing

i think i get the idea that a pair of noise cancelling bose headphones might be the best course of action here to hear anything of use.......not sure on the street cred from that angle....

I know several peope that hae stereo systems installed on their ribs of 25+feet.
I've ridden on them and while underway at 25 mph (300HP 4-stroke merc outboard engine) you can hear the music just fine- sans noise cancelling headphones.
I am not exactly sure on the wattage they have to be able to hear it
I will find out for you if your likde.

It sure makes cruising and fishing that much more fun.

Hi and thanks for the feedback, if they know if the system is anything special or not that would be good, if 25 w per channel is ok or if need to go much higher and use separate amps etc

ugh, hate cider, i grew up in norton fitzwarren where they used to make taunton cider, we used to put our wellies on and walk down the stream and pinch cans and bottles off the lorries in the lorry park that were loaded ready to go out and then nip off to a field and get drunk

i think i overdid it and now struggle to drink the stuff!

I put a stereo on our rib over the summer, at the moment it has 2x40watt speakers, and I can hear that ok at speed, but it could use another 2 speakers to keep the sound quality at loud enough volume to hear underway.

what type of speakers did you fit? and what watt per channel stereo?

yeah pump up the volume and your tubes

Are you going to wire it up via the ignition? or direct to the battery and maybe flatten it after 6 hours pumping up the Volume whilst at anchor

What's your favourite wave rockin beat:-
How about "Michael row the boat ashore"
"Smoke on the water"

I suspect i will wire it up in the same way as i have on the 4+2 as that has served me well and not caused any problems, also twin batteries helps against any unfortunate mishaps

Fitted a pair of Sony Waterproof speakers, can't remember the model number.

The stereo has 4x40watt outputs if thats what you mean, im only using 2 of them at the moment.
