He's a naval architect. Mainly yachts (I think), but designed the hull for the old J&B Rare raceboat which was also used for the rather nice but commercially unsuccessful Maywatch "powercruiser" a few years back.

This hull design was also used for a couple of 10m RIBs: one was used by a Dutch salvage team; the other is Ribaletta, which Charles Blois' has used for a lot of long range cruising over the last 8 years or so.
