who has cleaned flowcoat ?

has anyone got deep stains out flow coat with out sanding ?
how get stains out gelcoat with out sanding ? please help got start tommorrow

Y10 is very effective at removing the yellow stains of gelcoat or rust streaks etc

Or you could be a cheapskate like me and make up some Oxalic acid gel.

Mix with wallpaper paste to the required consistency.

I have used oxalic acid to very good effect to get rid of Staines!

just been making it up with water in spray

Mix it up thick with WPP powder, apply with a brush or roller - it clings to your work and washes off with a hose. It doesn't store well - I guess the acid works on the paste too. I use it quite a lot, on gel coat, flow coat and tiles. It works a treat. You can use it on stainless steel too.

All the usual precautions apply as regards personal protection. You might want to keep it away from galvanised steel (hint: trailer) - it comes up very clean but much thinner!!

Start with 10% Acid to 90% water/paste

It isgreat stuff!

We used to use it on ships to remove brown rust stains from white paintwork, and it works very well, however it does discolour green paint if you leave it on there, it sort of fades it, same for red. I would suggest trying it on a very small descrete area before "splashing it on all over"!

However for gelcoat I am sure it would be fine.

A word of warning, also keep it away from any natural fibres, such as hemp/manilla ropes, or normal canvas, as it will rot them very easily. This was the reason we were banned from using it on ships. Since then we have tried dozens of different things, but nothing as good as Oxalic acid.

And yes getting rid of Staines will be harder!
