FYI, unlike a few on this site, I don't feel the need bang on about the brand that I own, even when they know jack shit about the model in discussion.

It is my opinion, based on first hand experience, that the VM5.8 is a more sorted hull than the RC585. If I considered the opposite to be true, I'd say so. Why wouldn't I?

I'm not saying that the RC585 is rubbish, it's far from it.

Neither do I as I do believe its a matter of personal choice based on where you are going to use it and for what reason! All I said to the OP was that he made a mistake not grouping the RC ribs in his shortlist for consideration as I and a number on here that are (I think quite knowledgeable) do rate them as well, as does the 'Rib' world!! Oh and I forgot the Olympic organisation as well.

Thanks Gilles - we hope to keep in on Ile de Re in the Summer months and stored over in La Rochelle for the winter.

We need to get a boat that will go between the islands and maybe even Ile de Re to Ile d'Yeu (50 miles/ 85 Kms)

Also need the boat for water skiing and wake boarding.

Although in the last few days quite alot of RIBs have come on the market in France but I tihnk I will buy in the UK and get any changes made in the UK - just easier to deal with.

I'm pretty sure you will do a good deal. we had a Tornado rib for 20 years, do 2 round of the Netherlands , 2 of corsica, 1 of sardenia, the all coast of Croatia, St tropez Tunisia and back, an awsome boat.
we are always ribbing with family, parents and me, wakeboarding to and day trips with our boat club based in Belgium.
this year we bought a new Humber ocean pro 6.3, we did maybe 1500 NM this years, boat is really saved on water, heavy built, and to be honest we re "enchanté" of this boat.
always good to know
cheers
