Which online weather forecaster do people use?

Looking at getting the rib out this weekend, and have looked at a few forecasts, which online forecasts do people use? I don't find the bbc 4/5 day outlook very accuate.
I use the webcam at www.bournemouthsurfing.co.uk to check the sea state, but obviously only relavant for my crusing area!
There are loads of online forecasters but which one do peole find the most accurate, for the south coast.
The advantage of all these forecasts if you don't like the look of one, you can always find another that says what you want it to say, to show the crew

I tend to use the Met Office and go to INSHORE WATERS FORECAST

http://www.metoffice.co.uk/

also you can see the surface pressure charts for planning ahead

http://www.meto.gov.uk/weather/charts/index.html

Hope this helps

Cheers Richard, got those in the favourites now. Not looking too good for the weekend though, have to wait and see.

I've found www.weather.co.uk to be OK, but no inshore like the Met Office one. Does give wind speed / direction though.

http://www.metoffice.com/research/oc.../maws_pic.html

This gives actual live data from weather buoys around the country - so you can even tell wave height before you go out!!!

Cant believe no ones mentioned the BBC

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/

Its got :-

Shipping Forecast
Inshore Waters Forecast
Coastal Forecast
Buoy Observations
Coastal Observations
Atlantic Pressure Charts
Sea Temperatures
Surf Reports
Coastguard Info
Tide Tables

What more could anyone want - makes me happy to pay my TV licence knowing that at least some of the money is going towards the BBC's fantastic website. There's bugger all on the telly that I'm happy to pay for...

We use all three of these but the Bramble site is more relevant to our area.

http://www.metoffice.co.uk/

http://www.bramblemet.co.uk/default.shtm

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/

(Also tend to check things out with 'Met Office Martin' who's good at reading weather info !!!)

Dont listen to him. Just cos he's not allowed out he'll tell you it's gonna drizzle even when it's sunny.

Oh yeh, I use theyr.net and BBC Atlantic pressure.

In this day and age, we mustn't forget to put our heads out of the odd window so that we can 'sniff' the air. It still works.

On the other hand, you can download 3-day GRIB files for FREE from here:

http://www.raymarine.com/raymarine/d...ion=3&page=149

I have used these in anger on an iBook and they are very good and seem accurate when compared to the BBC etc. Only thing might be that the 'ticks' that are plotted might be a bit too far apart when one is considering a quick whizz in a RIB.

www.theyr.net

We swear by www.theyr.net . Over the last few years we have found it to be very accurate with updates every 3 hours. We especially have found it's wind strengths and directions to be spot on even down to a 10 square mile section of Galway or Sligo Bays on the West Coast of Ireland.

Kind regards,

Stuart

www.windguru.cz

www.windguru.cz seems bang on for hour by hour wind strength/dir forecasts out to 24hr on the East Coast. Wave height is pretty accurate too.

Most UK beaches are listed.
