6hp.....It was about ten years old. The recoil starter fell apart and I couldn't get the pawls or a couple of the small springs and a spacer that got lost......(washer about 8mm thick).
I know it was an old engine but I've never had problems getting parts even for 30 year old Mercs and Jonnyrudes.

Going slightly off track here but just checked availability of those parts for a manual start Yam 6hp 2004/05 and all available (have to order it via authorised dealership) you bin spun a yarn by either someone who cant be arsed in earning 5 in the sale of some parts or they have no idea how to order parts.

About ten years ago so try 94/95. However I'm not having a specific go at Yamaha. I think given the choice he has I'd probably go for the Yam. I've seen to many Etecs advertised for sale using phrases like "totally rebuilt", "New ECM unit" and that to me begs the question...why did it need rebuilt?, why did it need a new ECM?. I've heard tale of a frightening issue one Etec had that the dealer couldn't replicate or establish the cause.
My comment's re Yamaha are just to point out that they are not without sin.

In your opinion how much is it worth? It's 75HP from 2012.

and on what should I paid attention when I will buying it?

buy a compression tester - theyre cheap enough and can tell you if the block and pistons are as they should. 5 or 10mins to take out plugs and do the test

Etecs don't run if its too hot or too cold

A bit unfair! Can't say I have tried it 'too hot' but I can assure you they have no problem running in 0C air temp and 4C water temp in the winter here.

I had a Johnson 115 two smoke on the same size rib before this and the fuel consumption of the much bigger 150 E-TEC is significantly less than the old 115 was - like 20-30% less - pushing a hull that is definitely heavier and probably less efficient than the old Humber was. The saving in fuel consumption more than offsets the extra cost of the XD100 oil.

I've no more desire to go back to that than I have to put a 2.25 diesel in my Land Rover.

Evinrude all the way ... Great winterisation program 10 mins max. Always starts, good performance

Seen me right so far go for what you think is best for you....both are good engines IMHO

On Saturday I am going to see Yamaha.
I am going to check: Engine compression, oil color in lower part, color of spark plugs, incidence of any corrosion. Anything else?

The Evinrude turned out to be from April 2009 instead of 2011, so I think it should not be taken into consideration any more.

Other thing - how is the best way to transport engine? Can I put in inside trunk?The weight is 120kg so two people could put in/out from/to trunk.
Am I right???
