where to get this console?

hi,
i am looking for this kind of console to fit a used searider 5.4.

i like the height and the angle of the wheel as well as the generel layout.
i think it will work much better than the original RN console height on a searider.
where could i find something like this, how much would the fitting cost / how complicated would it be?
any advise highly appreciated.

Outhill do a very similar one - £560.

In terms of replacing it, not very difficult. The old one should simply unbolt from the deck. You'll need to remove console box, steering, electrics etc and install in the new console then plug everything back in. The only slightly tricky obstacle I can see with a 5.4 Searider is that there is a raised bit of deck where the console goes. Depending on size of the new one you might need to remove this. Its basically just a lump of wood glassed onto the top of the deck, so can be removed relatively easily. Once you've got it out you'd have to glass over the deck where it once was, then repaint the whole deck with something.

If you're handy and capable you could do it in a weekend.

Tim,

What is the purpose of the piece of wood glassed on to the deck?

Isn't it where the bolts that the hold the console down go through?

Why not contact a Valiant dealer and see if they can supply this for you?

If you have any probs, I know a good one in Christchurch.

still looking for console

hi guys,
thank you for the advice.
i tried to find the vailiant console through dealers, but it didnt really work out (the one in christchurch doesnt have any).

tried to contact DM as i like the ones he had done - couldnt get hold of him.

didnt like the outhill one, looks a little too flimsy.

will try on "bits and pieces" now.

I had an Outhill JC3T in my 5.4 Searider. Just the job. Only negative was that the seat was a bit wide.

Room for a 100 litre tank under the seat and some stowage forward.
