What's the best part of the UK&Irish coast?

What part of the UK & Irish coast is your favourite for boating?
Myself I'd have to say through the swellies, past puffin island and onwards.
My area is a bit bland until you get towards Walney island.

I'd love to take my time going around the west coast of scotland. Could spend a good few months doing that. But can't see it happening due to time, tides and t**ts!

It depends on the criteria used for "best bit"
Do you mean scenery or do you include places to stop off for food etc?

Love the Fal Estuary...bit of a trek down there (260 miles from home - even further for you John) but we think it's worth it...we're there at Easter launching from Mylor Harbour

Hoping to do the Menai Straits later in the year. A mere 150 miles away!

Well I would say it's a choice of 2. Haven't seen Ireland yet.

My own area - Gower around to Milford haven and St Davids.

And prob the best place in the whole world - West Coast of Scotland - shame the weather is awful and it's full of hairy Scotsmen wearing skirts!!!

Well its the Summer Isles for me !, just when you think you know them pretty well you get closer to one bit of one of them, and something reveals its self that you've never seen before The Shiants are pretty good too, for a further cruise , but I'd like to explore down towards the Kyles of Lochalsh one of these days ah summer .. bring it on

Oh no, I'm agreeing with Codprawn again.

South Cornwall is pretty good too. Some good estuaries to explore and stop off for a drink & a bite to eat

My vote would go to the coast from Poole to Weymouth. In a RIB you can get close up and personal, the geology and wildlife is great. This combined with descent fuel stops and great pubs at either end.

Looking forward to the IOM trip, then may change my mind

The best area by far IMHO is S/W Ireland.
The Old Head of Kinsale, Glandore Harbour,Baltimore and Declan McArthys pub, the Fastnet Rock, the Aran Isles and Fort Angus on the towering cliffs..................I could go on.........

Devon coast takes a bit of beating,North and South, abundant variety and still plenty of beaches you can camp on without being hasseled!not to mention the excellent fishing!
Although I did fall in love with the Scillies big time!
Look forward to doing some cruiseing in the Emerald Isle done plenty of fishing over there, and some of the coast is lovely.

It looks like most of us prefer our home waters (like we drive the best ribs too). So, not knocking anywhere else, but like the Western Isles, the west coast of Ireland is a bit special. It's scenic, remote and wild. Small islands dot the coastline, some with car ferries, some without, some uninhabited, all a bit different. You'll have to work for your fuel fills here but the Guinness is ubiquitous. If weather stops play offshore, there are still the huge fjords and estuaries to explore. And the fuel is cheap . May is a nice settled month to visit!

My two favourites, from a long list around these waters, are the Inner Hebridean islands and the coast around Cape Wrath.
Not a soul for miles, lots of clean sandy beaches (with no germans) and lots of scenery.
I am hoping Orkney this year will be just as good although slightly more populated
These pics are all from around Cape Wrath Lighthouse which you can just see in two of them. The slip is the place at the foot of the lighthouse cliff, not another soul for around 10-15 miles........

Here, no p###taking Bigmuz7, that's cross border marketing that is- look, I put you in too - that gets extra points at the Pitch meeting.....

In all seriousness, our next cruise is to be Inishtrahull, Islay, Rathlin, Donegal. How's that for a compromise rules rib run?
