Whats it worth, SR4?

Just got my insurance renewal and obviously one or two things have changed since I last insured the boat.
Any ideas what its worth.

Avon SR4 1985,
1992 55hp Yamaha,

Answer the poor buggers question - I would suggest about £3 - £4k for a very tidy SR4 - but then what do I know - other than the fact they are now very hard to find

No - just based on months of looking and what we would have been prepared to pay if we had found one in excellent condition.

You only have to read the incredible number of threads on here re "I want an SR4" to appreciate how fantastic they are, even with complete reels of gaffer tape, a flooding hull

and a wet ride - I reckon priceless!!!

Seriously if you feel thats over inflated Mollers - what do you suggest - possibly the SR4 Appreciation Society is not the best place to seek a valuation

All I was after was a rough idea of what it was worth but even a simple question like that is too hard for some people.

A 25yo hull, 18yo motor. £2-2.5k if it's a stunner.

It is hard to be objective - but equally it really is very very difficult to get one in excellent condition - I reckon Matt might be the best person to ask as he has bought and sold quite a few me thinks

For insurance tell them 4k & then ask what price for £2k - i bet its bugger all differance in premium - then tell them £4k and you'll be safe.

They're wanting me to take it to a yard to get a written quote, trouble is no one round here does RIB's.

Blimey Phil - what a pain - we just had to say what we had bought it for and what each element - RIB/Engine/Trailer/Add Ons were now worth - what insurance are you with Phil

We did ours through Insurance 4 Boats - 6k worth of cover for £146 plus £150 excess

Seemed a good quote compared to many we had and also seems to cover all requirements - trouble with insurance is you never know if its any good until you really need it!

Trouble is I want to insure it for more than it was worth last year, due to console and an engine that actually works.
Might be easier to say I sold it and its a different boat!

I would second around £2k. JBT I believe will give you a written valuation for a small fee.
