What's it worth?

I'm going to be selling a RIB, but I don't know how much it's worth. What do people think?

It's a 6m Avon Searider. It's pretty old, and hasn't been retubed for some years. The tubes have a few patches and do hold air, although they arn't very pretty at all.

The boat had a diesel in-board with jet drive until recently when this was removed and replaced by a 70hp Johnson outboard. The engine bay is empty at the moment. The boat also has a bult-in fuel tank.

On the deck there is a high stand-up 2 man console. No seating at all. There's a painted aluminum A frame on the back with nav lights. The boat sits on a good trailer. The wiring in the console is a mess, and need replacing.

The hull it'self is in good condition, its just the tubes really that need either replacing or painting/tidying.

So, what's is worth?

Well, i'll give you £500 :-p

Seriously, sounds like from adverts I've seen etc that it should be worth around £4k, to someone who is prepared to do the work. If the Johnson outboard is more recent, then the boat would almost certainly be worth more I reckon.

If someone offers you 4k bite their arm off, I would reckon nearer 2k. Value of an old RIB is really driven by engine and trailer. How old is that 70hp Johnson?

So 500 quid for the engine, 500 quid for the trailer and 1000 quid tops for the boat based on your description. A couple of grand all in.

Or of course put it on ebay cos some punters bound to pay over the odds for it!

Put in perspective, I see your point. Boats do tend to go for an awful lot on eBay though!
