Oops, missed that. I suspect the motor and boat are about the same year then.

Don't know about cost at two grand but it's not been looked after the hull looks tatty or is it just sh- te and the starboard tube looks if its sagging by its line but that might just be the picture the motors the thing has that been looked after suspect not, trailer needs a bit of setting up but some TLC should bring it back to life and has makings of a nice boat.
Tubes will be hypalon from Avon never seen any in PVC might be wrong.
For what it's worth if the engine runs ok I would have taken a chance on her being prepared to spend a bit

Cheers

It's got a flooding hull. I think it's the 4.7 adventure/Searider thingy... same as an SR4.7 bar the blue tubes now I'm looking at it closer on a real screen.

Well, the boat was for sale but i didn't want to raise interest in it & give the seller an advantage !
Jeff was right, in real life its had a really hard life !
The hull is battered, numerous dents & holes in the chines, (ill try to get some photo's up but the boat is 30 miles away at the moment) A Nice 3 to 4ft long deep gouge, one tube that that goes down due to a poor repair (patch has come of but the glue used is rock hard !!)
The Anode is missing on the engine, prop again is battered, Skeg has been snapped ! & battery box under seat loose, floating about !
None of this is really surprising given that on the river trial, On the launch the guy just stuck it in reverse to back it off the trailer when the motor was on full lock swinging the hull into all the trailer roller posts etc ! (loading it up again wasn't much better coming in diagonally across the trailer!)

So im after lots of advice please
On repairing & tidying up the Hull, getting the chines looking Tidy again !
Does it matter on the type / make of fibre glass to use ?
On the gouges & knocks can I use a filler & if so what types is the best ??,
What's the best way to do Jell coat repairs ?
where's the best place to buy it from & how will I colour match it ?
what depth will jell coat fill gouges & dents etc ??

I have found this vid when I did a search on rib net on this subject !
Repairing hull damage the Whaler Way

Anyone else have suitable reference vids or webpages that will help please !
Thanks

2k for a 1999 hull and 1999 engine would normally be a good price. For an SR4 it could be a bargain. For a SR4.7 it would definitely be a bargain.

BUT all of that is on some provisos:
Tubes hold air with no leaks at all
Engine starts and runs fine with no issues
Electric Start & Trim
Hull is in reasonable condition.

I'm still a bit confused if its a SR4 / SR4.7 or some other Avon. It is an AVON based on the HIN. Avon Adventures are generally not the same as SR, but I gather the 4.7 used the 4.7 SR hull so is not too shoddy.

BUT the side shot of the hull is the thing that concerns me most. It might be dirt, but it looks like damage along the side thats been badly repaired. If its damage that will be pricey or time consuming to fix and the 2k price tag is while not necessarily bad is no longer a bargain. If its dirty thats fine.

Cross Posted!

I wouldn't want to be learning GelCoat repairs on damage that size. But everyone has to learn somewhere! EastCoast FibreGlass have a good reputation, and I've used them a couple of times (once by collecting and once by post). They have videos of stuff on their site. Without close ups of the damage its hard to say what the best way to repair is. Colour matching can be a 'mare even if you know the RAL numbers. Someone will know the RAL for Avon White and Cream. I think its white but you've seen it in the flesh rather than on-screen.

Engine - Skeg Damage can mean prop damage and that can mean gearbox damage. You need someone who knows engines better than me to tell you what to look for.

Tube - I'd want to know there are no other leaks. Patching - plenty of posts on here and links to videos to follow. If its in an easy place its probably the simplest of your headaches!

Parts may not be expensive to fix it up if the engine is OK:
- GRP filler <150
- Clean & Paint Engine <100
- Prop repair <100
- Tube repair <100

If its done well and scrubbed up nice you should at least cover those costs re-selling it. But your time doing it will be the issue. Thats time not on the water.

Take it to a commercial guy to fix and I guess (coz I've not seen it!) you'd be spending 1000+ for the gel fixes, 250+ on tube patch depending how easy it is to do, Engine service (not in the costs above is likely 200-300 as you'll want impellor changed etc) and then I'd guess a commercial clean and re-spray will be 500+.
You wont get 4k back on it when you come to sell... But you would have a decent boat to play on !

Isnt only the Seariders that have flooding Hull ?, which would make it an SR4

At the moment it only owes me just over 1300

Would just like to get the hull tidied up to prevent any water creeping into the fibre glass where damaged, repair the tube, give it a general tidy up & serviced so I can use it
Some New bearings on the trailer & probably get rid of those short rear bunks for some rollers !
