What shoes do you wear?!

Hello!

I have a random question.

Up until now (starting from when I was 16...a long time ago) whenever taking out a rib I always wear flip flops / go barefoot. I can't help but feel this isn't the best option though really...maybe.

I'll be in the water on launch and recovery as I do that on my own most of the time so I just chuck flip flops on for the walk back from the truck.

I tried wetsuit type shoes but they were the slipperiest things ever! I looked like a newly born foal trying to navigate around the boat

What do you wear and is it any good?

Not all 'wetboots' are created alike.

My 'normal' footwear are "sailing wellies" but this week I've largely just been using my walking boots - but the boat has been on the pontoon so I've not had the added fun of trying to launch/recover without the water going over the welly. (I have an 80% failure rate).

If you did a proper risk assessment you wouldn't launch/recover bare foot - you'd probably have steel tow caps!

Old canvas pumps full of holes (through use rather than by design) or Keen sandals.

I use to use sharx (like crocs) but now use sailing shoes with sealskinz socks.

True, it is a constant thought while I'm on the slipway, things to stand on, things to get foot squashed between, run over, boat slammed on! It's just up until now my feet have been the grippiest thing I can find that I don't mind getting wet!

I nearly bought some crocs...once...but I was informed my appeal to the opposite sex would diminish even more

Another Crocs user here. Brilliant! I wear them all year round, surprisingly warm even in the winter and seem to grip the deck pretty well.

Cocs are excellent if you want to look a complete tw@t.

Otherwise, flip flops work well when it's hot, wetsuit booties with soles, not neoprene bottoms, jetski boots. Sailing boots for foul weather use.

Despite what our resident fashion guru from Cornwall says about Crocs they are my chosen foot wear
