What material is this West Marine 310

Despite being new to this forum, before posting I have used the search bar and google extensively but still havent found my answer.

I just bought this really crappy West Marine 310 RIB. The tubes are peeling from the double fiberglass floor, so I am going to glue them up. I just droped alot of money bought a large ammount of hypalon glue but upon inspection I dont think its hypalon. The inside is roughly the same grey color as the outside, when I sand it, it produces a fine dust, when I use acetone on it, it gets slightly tacky. So signs lead me to say its PVC. But this guy says its hypalon in the link.

WEST MARINE RIB-310 Rigid Inflatable Boat Victoria City, Victoria

Thats my exact boat and I cant find anything on it anywhere. The Model number is Z24022. Can someone please just tell me hypalon or pvc? I just wasted so much money on glue and I have to figure out how to return it.

look at any seam or any glued surface where there is a joint and peel back the material. if it's grey on the back side it's pvc - if it's black it's hypalon. FYI the ad say its hypalon

I understand it says Hypalon, I did quote that in my origin post, but yes late last night i did determine it was pvc. I was just looking for someone who maybe had experience with that exact boat. Just goes to show you can never trust the intetnet, or more specifically a for sale ad 😂

So. you did what I said and checked the backside of the material to determine this?

Most likely PVC if made in the last 10 years. West Marine generally sells "just good enough" rather than looking for excellence in their branded products.

Valkyrie's advice on fabric color inside is good. Hypalon has a inner layer of neoprene which will be black.

It is zodiac strongan PVC.

West marine produced by Zodiac. Basically a Cadet Compact RIB.

It is ungluing due to old age. The entire tubeset should be reglued and the transom should be inspected for rot.

They were pretty good boats. Welded air seams, welded transom, and a vacuum molded hull.

A lot of people in the States called anything that looks vaguely like a RIB a Zodiac in the same way we call a Dyson a Hoover.

Easiest solution is probably to give West Marine a call! In my experience they're usually very helpful.

That was my point. Anyone who interchanges the terms probably doesn't know the difference between PVC and Hypalon.

To be fair, it actually is a Zodiac. The capacity plate will say "MADE BY ZODIAC INTERNATIONAL FOR WEST MARINE [WATSONVILLE, CA]" or something like that.
