If money was no object, i would throw one of these new yamaha F70 outboards on it. Only 117kgs dry weight so should be ideal

Yeap agree, its a 2 stroke on the back, you can see the oil filler cap. Plus the cowl on the 4 stroke is taller. Brilliant engine.

So have found a low hours Mariner 75 2 Stroke locally, even though they have one on the brochure pic on the website I worry that it is too much for the size of the boat.
Any thoughts?

looks like a two stroke to me and weighs in at 139 kgs. if it were a 4 stroke that small craft would be rather stern happy!

Tohatsu M60C... 115kg, runs like an Amtrak at WOT! 
Other options would be a 4-stroke Yamaha F60 or Suzuki DF60, both 109kg... but not cheap new.
CoachRib on here (Sweden) has an XS 530 rib with the new Yamaha 4-stroke 70hp. Now that is a sweet looking boat and engine combo.

Try to get a Merc/Mariner F50/60. Good motor and well-suited to a 4.8.
If I look hard enough, I should be able to find one in the shed.

dig away  , the more options the better!
the mariner 75 has allegedly only ran 20 hours from new so I will hopefully get a look at that after christmas. Still think might be too much but it is within budget just about!

Thread update finally went for this engine and apart from it dropping the stator the first time I used it it seems fantastic. Had to move the console forward to counteract chine walking but now seems OK. Cruises happily at about 38mph and tops out at just shy of 42mph but bit nervous to hold at that speed for too long. Rev counter not working right as well so dont want to ver rev it.
The acceleration is however ridiculous!
