What HP motor would you suggest

Our Fire Department just purchase a used Hurricane 640 but it needs to be repowered. It has an older 200 Merc on it now.

We found another older 200 Merc which only has about 400 hours and is in good shape. However if we drop down to a 150 HP we could afford a brand new Yamaha or Johnson. If we buy a used 200hp we would eventually repower but be able to budget for a larger hp engine. thoughts?

If it were me I'd go new 150. You never know what you are really buying second hand . New you get warranty & know it can be looked after , serviced properly etc ,, Just my opinion........

Are you saying you could buy a new F150 Yam for the price of a used 200 Merc? How old is the Merc and what model is it?
